engineering

During the first semester of first course in the Engineering Academy at Hall High School,  Introduction to Engineering (IED) students focused on taking their natural problem solving skills and apply them to how engineering break down and creatively attack problems using the Engineering Process. Then they focused on traditional prospective drawing skills and learned how to use unique engineering tools like isometric grids and drawings to focus on accuracy and precision in design.

This idea was also applied to common construction and engineering tools of measurement in both the S.I. units (metric) and fractional U.S. traditional notation with the engineer’s caliper. As the semester closed, technical drawings were introduced along with Computer Assisted Drawing (CAD) programs such as AutoDesk Fusion 360 and OnShape to design in both the physical and digital setting, puzzle-cube games of their own design.
