📚 Literacy in Action! The Rotary Club of Little Rock Afterhours continues to champion reading through its ongoing partnership with LRSD. Now in its third year, the program challenged students to read 20 minutes each day—and they rose to the occasion! 👏 Congratulations to our top three schools for total minutes read. 🥇 Mabelvale Elementary – 67,835 minutes 🥈 Chicot Elementary and Early Childhood Center – 64,515 minutes 🥉 Otter Creek Elementary School – 59,398 minutes. Each school received funds to grow its library collections. Thank you, Rotary Afterhours, for your continued support of literacy in our schools!

Due to the threat of severe weather moving into our area, LRSD will dismiss school early today, all after-school activities are cancelled, and CARE will be closed. Elementary sites will dismiss at 1:30 p.m., followed by secondary schools at 2:30 p.m. This decision was made in the best interest of students and staff, in consultation with the National Weather Service, LRSD’s Emergency Management and Transportation teams, and surrounding districts. Please note that if tornado sirens are activated during these dismissal times, we will initiate our shelter-in-place procedures, and building doors will be locked until the threat has passed. Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Please stay safe.

Join Us for our Scholastic Book Fair (Welcome to the Trail Ride) all next week in the Mabelvale Media Center daily from 8 am to 3 pm. Tomorrow's theme is Books and Cowboy/Girl Boots. Students are encouraged to wear cowboy boots. We also welcome parents to join us for Picnic with Parents on Tuesday, April 1st through Thursday, April 3rd during your child's lunch period. We will end the week with the MES Rodeo Bash Friday, April 4th from 6pm to 8pm. The price for the bash is $5 per student and parents join us for free! We are excited about what next week holds!
