Exciting news! Chicot Elementary has partnered with First Security Bank to launch the Penny Pocket Savings Program for our students! This is an excellent opportunity for your child to learn about saving money and building financial responsibility.

Currently, we have approximately 23 student accounts open, but we’d love to see many more before our Grand Opening on September 17. A letter and bank application have been sent home with your child. Please complete and return the application (with requested documentation mentioned in the letter) so that your child can participate in this exciting program.

Let’s work together to help our students start saving early and celebrate a strong launch for the Chicot Elementary Bank!

The Leader in Me Difference - Student Leadership Kicks Off Immediately at Chicot!

Leader in Me/PBIS Assemblies

Student Leaders facilitated our school-wide Leader in Me/PBIS Assemblies this week! They guided three assemblies (K-1, 2-3, & 4-5) to ensure our school-wide expectations were shared, communicated what "S.P.O.T.S." means and how to demonstrate your S.P.O.T.S. throughout the school, ways scholars earn points daily for exhibiting positive behaviors, and how these positive behaviors are celebrated through Cheerful Cheetahs and Legendary Leaders. Great job scholars and staff! This is how you start a school year!

Leader in Me - School-wide Leadership Roles

In addition to our Classroom Leadership Roles, scholars can now apply for our 2025-2026 School-wide Leadership Roles! Scholars can submit their applications through Friday, September 5th. Check out just a few of the available roles scholars can fulfill to ensure student ownership and voice are present throughout our school! Chicot believes "Everyone can Lead" and Everyone has Genius!" We can't wait to see our scholars shine during the 2025-2026 school year! Go Cheetahs!

Good Afternoon, Chicot Cheetah Families!

Welcome to Week 3 of the school year! We’re proud of how our scholars are settling into routines and showing leadership. Over the past two weeks, they’ve participated in our Leader in Me/PBIS Assemblies & Rotations, and we’ve seen steady improvement in both arrival and dismissal procedures.

As we continue building a safe, structured, and academically strong environment, please take a moment to review the important reminders below:

ARRIVAL

  • Start Time: Instruction begins at 7:40 AM. Please ensure your child arrives on time—every minute counts!

  • Building Entry: While families are welcome during morning arrival, after 7:40 AM, students must walk independently to their designated area or classroom following tardy check-in.

  • Main Parking Lot: This lot is open for families who wish to walk their child in before 7:40 AM. Please note: this is not a drop-off area. If you prefer to drop your child off without getting out, for safety reasons, you use the car loop.

  • Walkers: The back entrance is monitored until 7:40 AM. After that time, all walkers must enter through the main entrance, with or without an adult, to ensure student safety.

DISMISSAL

  • End Time: The school day ends at 2:55 PM.

  • Early Check-Outs: There are no early check-outs after 1:50 PM.

  • Main Parking Lot: The Main Parking Lot is closed during dismissal, except for ECC families with the required car tag. Those using it must turn left upon exiting and use the outside lane of the car loop.

  • Walk-Ups: For safety reasons, walk-ups are not permitted during dismissal. All car riders without ECC siblings must be picked up through the car loop.

  • Car Tags: Please ensure your car tag is visible at dismissal. This helps staff call for your child promptly and keeps the line moving efficiently.

  • Procedure Updates: Important reminders/updates have been made for families with walkers and those with ECC and elementary siblings. Please review the attached flyers carefully.

GENERAL REMINDERS

  • Parent Meetings: If you need to speak with your child’s teacher, kindly schedule an appointment in advance.

  • Safe & Courteous Driving: Please be mindful of your speed, remain patient with others, avoid cell phone use while driving or in the arrival/dismissal loop, and follow all school guidelines. These expectations are in place to keep everyone safe.

Thank you, Cheetah Families, for your continued support and cooperation. We are proud to partner with you to ensure your child—and all of our scholars—have a safe, positive, and successful school year.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!

ECC/ELEM Siblings
ECC/ELEM Siblings
Good Morning! It's hard to believe, however, we've almost made it through the first week of school! It's been a great week of reconnecting with our scholars and catching up with each of you as we work together to create a strong 2025-2026 Foundation for Learning.

While dismissal always takes the first couple of weeks to fully settle into place., we have gotten our time down by 30 minutes and expect dismissal procedures to further improve by the end of the week. Below are a few ways you can assist us:

1. For dismissal only, all elementary (K-5) families (except those with ECC students) must use the back/last loop for pick-up. The loop will take you to the elementary main entrance. Please make sure to use both lanes and avoid large gaps between vehicles. This better ensures we are not blocking traffic on Chicot Road.

2. Make sure your Car Rider Tag is visible. You can hang the tag from your mirror or place it on the dashboard of your vehicle. This allows us to call names quickly and speeds up overall dismissal time for everyone. If you have not yet picked up your car rider tag, please stop by the main office for assistance.

3. Review our S.P.O.T.S. expectations for dismissal with your child. This will demonstrate the partnership between home and school and communicate the importance of appropriate and a safe actions during dismissal. One critical component for students is listening for their name to be called. This means all students must sit quietly for names to be heard clearly. Once a child's name is called they are to quickly gather their backpack/personal items and walk to the main door. All S.P.O.T.S. Expectations for this area and their related Leader in Me Habit(s) are attached as a photo. You will also find our Arrival/Dismissal Map for review.

Once again, thank you for your patience and assistance. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Good Evening Chicot Families! Thanks for your patience as everyone gets accustomed to new routines. We promise...the time required for dismissal will get faster with each day! You'll be amazed at the improvements in time by the end of the week. As a reminder, K-5 families will use the last entrance behind the playground for arrival and dismissal. In the morning, only families walking students inside should enter the main parking lot. Thanks in advance for your continued partnership to ensure the safety of all! We are looking forward to another great day.
